Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips + Instagram

I recently tried the Sally Hanson Salon Effects Nail Polish strips just for fun. I have to be honest though, I have never been a fan of stick-on nail polish. I figured I'd try this out because I liked the lacy pattern.

The box comes with I nail file, a wooden pusher and 16 nail strips. It's quite simple to apply, but the smell of the adhesive was a bit difficult to bear for me. All you have to do is look for a nail strip that fits each of your nails then stick it on! File off the excess using the peach part of the nail file. Easy enough right?

The major drawback I had with this product though was its longevity. Perhaps I should've applied top coat after application but since the instructions didn't tell me to do so, I figured I'd do without it. One of the nail strips slightly peeled off while I was washing my hair the day after application. A couple of days after that, some parts of the strips started to chip off.

Before I make a full on review of this product, I'll try it out one more time. With top coat this time! I heard that this product is supposed to be long wearing. As for now, trial number one gets a thumbs down.

June 2012 Favorites

July has finally graced our presence making it time another monthly favorites list. I don't have a lot of favorites this month mainly because the products I've been loving lately have been featured in past favorites list. I think that says a lot about the success of my makeup shopping hiatus. Yup, you heard it right. I'm steering clear from buying eyeliner, lip products, cream shadows and blushes. So that leaves me with face products, powder eyeshadow, highlights and bronzers--none of which I shop for a lot so it shouldn't be a problem. I came to this decision as I was cleaning out my makeup cabinets a few weeks back.

Here's an instagram (Yup, I finally caved in and downloaded that damn app) of my makeup collection. This may not seem like a lot to some people, but for me, an individual who has absolutely NO intentions of becoming a makeup artist, this is a freaking ridiculous amount. I have only one face after all. I say I'm making the right decision.

Moving on to my monthly favorites! This semester's schedule allows me to have a little time to apply eyeshadow in the morning so I've been using more eye products than usual. Expect a lot of that this month!

With that said, let's start with those eye products!

Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Cream Eyeshadow in Émerveillé - This is just the right amount of shimmer for school. It brightens the eye area in an instant. Definitely a great way to fake 7-hours of sleep!

NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Bohemian Gold - The shade on the left is a lovely lid color to layer with Emerveille! This has definitely made it to my list of favorite all-over-the-lid colors.

NARS Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Base - Watch out, UDPP, this eyeshadow primer beats your butt by a milestone! I have super oily eyelids so eyeshadow primers are a must-have for me. This primer holds up my eyeshadow like its no one else's business. It helps my eye makeup stay on all day without budging. Holy grail item right here!

NARS Blush Duo in Orgasm/Angelika - I have been reaching for NARS Angelika more and more now. I've had this duo for a long time now but I've always been put off by the bright pink shade of Angelika. Not to mention the silver flecks of glitter that might accentuate my acne scars. However, when I tried it last summer, I absolutely fell in love with it. It showed up really well on my skin! The color wasn't as intimidating as it was on the pan. Definitely a new fave!

Jeanne Lanvin EDP - I'm usually not a fruity-floral perfume kind of girl, but I used this perfume a lot this month. I love the scent it leaves after a few hours. It becomes more fruity than floral, which is what I like in a perfume. According to Fragrantica.com, it's top notes are blackberry, lemon and pear; middle notes are peony, freesia and raspberry; base notes are sandalwood, amber and musk.

My School Essentials: Inside My School Bag

First off we have my pencil case which I got from Fully Booked a few years back.

My favorite black pen is from Muji! Since high school, I've always preferred fine tip pens as opposed to ballpoint ones because frankly, it works better with my penmanship. I also bring a bunch of other colored pens just for fun. I swear Muji pens are just something else.

Beside that is a coin purse I got with Nine West bag I bought a few years ago. This is always the heaviest thing in my bag. I get a sense of fulfillment whenever I pay the exact amount of my purchase so it's nice to know where I can find all my coins.

Next is my wallet which I got from Bauhaus. I got it on sale back when their Alabang Town Center branch just opened. I swear they have such pretty wallets! I got this one because I'm partial to quilted pouches. Plus the tassel give it a little character!

Next is my hand product pouch (for lack of a better name). I like putting my stuff in individual pouches to make rummaging around my bag much easier. This blue Estée Lauder pouch I got from my mom contains mostly hand stuff: Soap and Glory Hand Food hand cream, Safeguard hand sanitizer and L'Occitane Lavander Hand Cream. Tossed in a little spray bottle of the Victoria Secret Wild One body spray in there because it doesn't fit anywhere else.

Then we have my earphone pouch which came with my JBL x Roxy earphones. If we're talking about audio electronics, JBL is definitely my favorite. Good thing they tied up with Roxy and release pink in-ear earphones! I also store an 8GB flash drive and my Smart Bro broadband stick in here.

Beside that is my school ID and a pack of Double Mint mints. The green one is my absolute fave!

The last pouch I have is my makeup bag. The Estée Lauder quilted pouch is from my mom too. I only bring four makeup items with me because frankly, I never touch up at school. However, when I do, I whip out my MAC Blot Powder, Benefit Cha Cha Tint lip and cheek stain, The Face Shop Concealer and my current favorite lip product, the Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in 77 Santal. I also have a Macbook mirror, a hair tie and a Denman pop up brush in here as well. The others stuff like Cellufresh MD Eye Lubricant (Green bottle for when my contacts dry up), Solo Care Aqua Contact Lens Solution (clear bottle) and Dolfenal are for emergencies.

Next up are my phones, my camera flash light/lighter and a super skinny umbrella.

You might notice the lack of paper products in my post. That's because being a college senior, I don't have as much classes as I used to. I prefer to lug around my iPad instead. It helps me save paper (and stay entertained).

What about you? What are your school essentials? :)

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed

If there's a makeup product that I cannot get enough of, it's definitely blush. I've always been a fan of orangey coral blushes, but ever since summer started I've been expanding my blush collection to pink tones. One of the blushes I've been loving lately is the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed.

The Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour blush line claims to minimize oil and hydrate the skin at the same time. It also promises to improve the skin's overall complexion and texture. Its formulation includes Amazonian Clay, which is supposed to improve skin balance, Beeswax, which serves as a protective barrier between the skin and the external environment, Vitamin C to combat pre-mature aging and Vitamin E to prevent blemishes. Read more about it here.

Exposed is a nude old rose color with a matte finish. This has become one of my favorite blushes because of its color and how it reacts with my skin.

Benefit Brow Zings Brow Shaping Kit

A few months back, I didn't really give much attention to my brows. They aren't particularly unruly anyway. However, when I invested on the Benefit Brow Zings Brow Shaping Kit, I stared to enjoy doing my brows every morning. Now I rarely leave the house without doing my brows!

Benefit Brow Zings is a brow wax and brow powder kit. It comes with two applicators, one for each product, and the teeny tiniest tweezers I have ever seen.
